Gear up for the ultimate landscape and wildlife photography retreat experience and make history with us by attending our 2023 TPM Annual Retreat! We're offering an all-inclusive package that promises to deliver a truly unique one-of-a-kind adventure for photographers in our podcast community in Banff and Jasper National Park. From July 10th to 16th, take part in an immersive, exciting, and insightful week-long expedition that focuses on capturing breathtaking landscape photographs.

How are you breaking up the trip?

The first two nights of the trip will be in Banff where we will aim to focus mainly on landscapes. From Banff we will drive 3.5 hours to Jasper through the Canadian Rocky Mountains, stopping off at some awesome locations for photo opportunities along the way. Once in Jasper, we will switch our focus to mainly chasing wildlife photographs over the four nights of our stay. Note we will always be shooting both genres at each location, there tend to be prettier landscape scenes in Banff and more abundant wildlife subjects in Jasper.

Banff

In Banff, we will likely be staying in a large Airbnb in the town of Canmore (15 minutes outside the park) that can house us all to create the best group environment. You will have your own bed.

We will try to visit as many of these locations as possible in Banff:

  • Lake Louise
  • Lake Moraine
  • Emerald Lake
  • Takakkaw Falls
  • Bow Falls
  • Vermillion Lakes
  • Two Jack Lake

In Between Banff & Jasper

We will be driving most of the day from Banff to Jasper and stopping off at some epic spots along the drive. These spots are:

  • Athabasca Falls
  • Sunwapta Falls
  • Peyto Lake

Jasper

In Jasper, we will be staying at Tekarra Lodge in three separate cabins. They are stunning! Each cabin will house a group of three (there will be 9 of us). Each cabin will have 2 queens or doubles and 1 sofa bed. Taking the sofa bed will slightly reduce the cost of your trip. Tekarra Lodge is right in the heart of town and frequently has wildlife such as elk right on the property.

Some of the wildlife we hope to photograph in Jasper includes:

  • moose
  • bear
  • elk
  • fox
  • eagles
  • coyotes
  • pikas
  • deer

Of course, there's never a guarantee with wildlife! That being said, July is a great time of year to photograph bears as they are in the valley eating berries.

In Jasper, we will try to visit as many of these locations as possible:

  • Pyramid Lake
  • Spirit Island (30 minute boat ride each way)
  • Moose Pond
  • Medicine Lake
  • Mount Edith Cavell
  • Beauvert & Annette Lake

Why should you join us?

This isn't a photography "workshop" where strangers all have a personal agenda and the instructors herd attendees like cattle for a few days to make their cut. We want you to walk away saying that was the most epic trip of your life. We want to help deliver that while making it price affordable.

This is a retreat that focuses on bringing like-minded photographers together to build a sense of community and create a place where by the end we will be part of one large photography family. If you like we can put you in touch with some of last year's attendees so you can hear firsthand what their experience was like. There's a recap video here as well. Of course, you will also walk away with insane shots and memories that you'll look back on forever. Come make lifelong connections and absorb invaluable knowledge from like-minded people!
